OUR LEGACY
Dannemiller began in 1984 as the Dannemiller Memorial Educational Foundation in San Antonio, Texas where it remains today.
Dr. Francis Joseph Dannemiller (March 31, 1931 – April 30, 1983) was a pioneer whose vision helped shape modern anesthesiology and continuing medical education. Born in Akron, Ohio, and educated at Yale University School of Medicine, Dr. Dannemiller served his country as Chief of Anesthesiology in the U.S. Air Force, where he played an instrumental role in advancing clinical practices for military medicine and supporting the Gemini and Apollo space programs.
After his military service, he continued to dedicate his life to improving patient care through education. Dr. Dannemiller founded the Society of Air Force Anesthesiologists in 1971 and later established what would become the Dannemiller Memorial Educational Foundation — an organization built on the belief that accessible, high-quality medical education could change the way clinicians learn, grow, and serve their patients.
